By creating an account and accessing The USMLE Drill (the "platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not register or use this platform. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
You may hold one account, registered to an email address you own. A free sign-up creates no account until you click the activation link we email you; the link expires after seven days, and a sign-up whose link is never clicked does not exist. A paid sign-up creates your account when payment is confirmed. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything done under your account. You may not share your credentials or allow anyone else to use your account.
A free account that is never used may be removed after a period of inactivity, as described in the Privacy Policy. An account that has paid for anything, or that has been used to study, is kept until you ask us to delete it.
Every free sign-up gets seven days of full Premium, starting when the activation link is clicked, with no card required. When those days end, the account is paused until a plan is bought: your progress, streak, saved and missed questions are kept, but drills, audio and the AI tutor close. A friend who joins through a referral link gets one month instead (see section 6). The free days are offered once per person; a second account to obtain them again is a violation of these Terms.
A paid plan bought after your free days is billed from the day you subscribe; the free days were your trial. Free days still running when you subscribe are kept: billing starts the day they would have ended. Someone who has never had free days may be offered a seven-day free trial on their first paid subscription. We may change or withdraw the free days at any time for new sign-ups; days already granted are honored.
We may, at our sole discretion, grant complimentary access to an account for a stated period. Complimentary access carries no cash value, may not be transferred, and ends on the stated date.
Full access to Content requires an active paid plan or free days still running. Premium plans are available at $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year, and Golden plans at $12.99 per month or $129.99 per year. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period until canceled, and you authorize The USMLE Drill to charge your selected payment method on a recurring basis. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
Drill Starter is a one-time purchase of $9.99 for 40 days of access. It does not renew, is offered in limited quantity, carries no free trial, and no discount code applies to it. When the 40 days end, the account is paused until a plan is bought.
We may from time to time offer a reduced rate for a stated number of billing periods, publicly or privately to a particular account. When that period ends, the subscription continues at the regular rate for the plan unless canceled. Offers are personal, expire on the stated date, and may not be combined unless we say so.
All sales are final. The USMLE Drill does not offer refunds or credits for any subscription charges, partial billing periods, or unused access. By completing your purchase, you expressly acknowledge and agree to this no-refund policy. If you do not wish to be charged for the next billing period, cancel your subscription before the renewal date from your subscription page. When you cancel a paid period, your access continues until that period ends. If you cancel during a free trial of a paid plan, the subscription ends at once and nothing is charged; free days, a referral month, Drill Starter days or complimentary access you already hold run to their end.
By subscribing, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to all of these Terms of Use in their entirety.
Your access grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the Content solely for your own individual educational use. You may not share your account, resell access, or use automated means to extract Content.
Every account has a referral link. When a friend signs up through your link and activates their account (by clicking the activation link we email them, or by completing a paid sign-up), your friend receives one month of Premium in place of the seven free days, and you receive one month of Premium, once: on the first friend who activates. Later friends still receive their month; your own reward is earned a single time.
How your month is applied depends on your account at that moment. With no plan, it is a month of Premium starting that day. With free days, Drill Starter days or complimentary access still running, it is added after them. With an active paid subscription, the period you have already paid for runs to its end untouched, the free month follows it, and your next invoice moves one month later at the same price; a subscription scheduled to cancel ends at the end of the new period. With a past-due subscription, it is a credit worth one month of your plan against what you owe. A referral month has no cash value, cannot be transferred, exchanged or paid out, and is not a refund.
Using your link and a friend's sign-up makes the two accounts friends in the app, and your first name is shown to your friend at sign-up and in their emails, as theirs is shown to you. The program is for real people you know. Referring yourself, creating accounts for people who do not exist or do not want them, using disposable inboxes, buying or advertising referrals, or otherwise gaming the program forfeits any reward, and may lead to termination of the accounts involved. We may change, suspend or end the program at any time; months already granted are honored. The creators' affiliate program (commission on sales made with a creator's code) is a separate arrangement governed by its own written terms, not by this section.
Parts of the platform are powered by artificial-intelligence models: the AI tutor, the grading of answers you type, the spoken audio drills, and some explanations and library articles, which are generated with a model and reviewed before publication. These features can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. They are study aids; verify anything you rely on against a primary source, and read section 9. Your messages to the tutor and the answers you type are sent to our AI providers to produce the response, as described in the Privacy Policy. Do not enter another person's health information into the platform.
All content on The USMLE Drill, including drill questions, clinical clue questions, best-next-step questions, high-yield pearls, explanations, library articles, audio recordings, the arrangement and selection of pictures, and any other educational material (collectively, "Content"), is the proprietary intellectual property of The USMLE Drill and its owner unless noted otherwise. All rights reserved.
You may NOT copy, reproduce, distribute, transmit, publish, sell, sublicense, modify, create derivative works from, or otherwise exploit any Content, in whole or in part, without prior written permission from The USMLE Drill. This prohibition extends to screenshots, screen recordings, transcriptions, and any other method of capturing or reproducing Content.
Some pictures are the work of third parties, obtained from Wikimedia Commons under the CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA licenses or from the public domain. Those pictures remain under their own licenses, which are shown with the author's credit under each picture; the license terms of those pictures govern their reuse, not this section. A picture we upload ourselves carries the credit we state, if any.
The Content provided on The USMLE Drill is intended solely for educational and exam preparation purposes. It does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment of any kind.

Medical knowledge evolves rapidly, and some Content may not reflect the most current clinical guidelines or standards of care. The USMLE Drill is not responsible for any errors, omissions, or outcomes resulting from reliance on the Content.

The USMLE Drill provides optional social features including a messaging system, friend requests and the friendships made through referral links (collectively, "Social Features"). By using these features, you agree to the following rules of conduct:
Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension or permanent termination of your account without notice and without refund. The USMLE Drill reserves the right, but assumes no obligation, to monitor Social Feature activity and to remove any content or restrict any user's access at its sole discretion.
If you believe another user is violating these rules, you may report the behavior by contacting us. We take all reports seriously and will investigate as appropriate.
The USMLE Drill reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms of Use, including but not limited to misuse of Social Features, unauthorized reproduction of Content, abuse of the free days or the referral program, or any conduct deemed harmful to other users or the platform. Upon termination, your access to all Content will immediately cease and no refund will be issued for any remaining subscription period. You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
The USMLE Drill respects intellectual property rights and expects users to do the same. If you believe that any Content on this platform infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to contact@theusmledrill.com including:
We will investigate all valid notices and respond promptly. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, The USMLE Drill, its owner, affiliates, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the platform, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
The platform and all Content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The USMLE Drill does not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top tells you when they last changed. For material changes we will notify you by email or with a notice in the app. Continued use of the platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Prices and offers in effect when you bought something are honored for the period you paid for.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction in the United States.
